It is not so much of a shock that nothing ever goes as planned for us. Today I found myself acting as a switchboard, holding a telephone in my left hand and a half-duplexed radio in the other. As it turns out, trying to coordinate dinner between people in the field and people at the grocery is difficult in an area with no cell service. I think we managed to get "kielbasa" and "don't start" across the line in between intermittent static.
